Boxerwood Nature Center & Woodland Garden Butterfly Wings is brought to you by a collaborate effort between Rockbridge Area Community Services and Rockbridge Area Hospice.

Butterfly Wings is a day camp for grieving children ages 6 to 14 held at Boxerwood Nature Center and Woodland Garden. The death of a loved one is difficult at any age, but especially for children there can be a sense of isolation and confusion.  Children experiencing grief for the first time may not know what to expect or how to feel better.

Butterfly Wings will provide a caring, supportive environment where children gather with each other to share and process their grief. Campers will be given the opportunity to participate in grief therapy activities, while experiencing the healing power of nature at Boxerwood Nature Center and Woodland Garden. Children are able to express their feelings and gain answers to their questions in a safe environment with trained counselors and volunteers.  By sharing and interacting with peers, campers realize their emotions are normal and that others may experience similar feelings after a loss.
